We love this recipe, and I've used the technique for many other things, but - as written, I can't handle it - way too rich - and not too rich as compared to store bought pudding - way too rich as compared to chocolate fudge icing. I used raw sugar and reduced the amount of sugar to under a cup (if I used regular sugar, I'd probably use 3/4 of a cup) and cut the amount of chocolate chips by a third, and am left with an incredible rich and chocolatey pudding.

sI was not overly-impressed with this recipe. I used all the same ingredients, but prepared it much like I do pastry cream I make at my job; that is, I scalded the milk and sugar, tempered the egg yolks, cooked it until it was good and thick, then poured it over the chocolate and mixed it on low speed of my stand mixer before chilling it. The flavor was OK, but sI found it too sweet even for my taste, plus it seemed to me to be a waste of so much otherwise good chocolate.
