  • pinecones
  • beeswax or paraffin wax, cut into cubes
  • paraffin wax, dye (optional)
  • floral foam

directions

  • Cover your work surface with several layers of newspaper and top with a layer of waxed paper.
  • In a bowl which has been placed over a saucepan of hot water, melt the wax.
  • Stir in dye if using.
  • With tongs, dip each pinecone into the wax and allow the excess to drip back into the bowl.
  • Transfer the wax-coated pinecone to the waxed paper and allow to dry.
  • Repeat this process 3 or 4 times.
  • With a knife, cut the foam to fit the bottom two-thirds of the bucket and glue into place.
  • Glue the sheet moss over the foam.
  • Fill the bucket with pinecones.
  • Push twigs and branches into the foam.
