I made these by the posted recipe- they were a little bland, maybe use 1 cup of eggnog and double the cinnamon and nutmeg. I also garnished them with the extra nutmeg AND some vanilla sugar.(gives them some sparkle)
I am too impatient to wait for dough to chill so I added an extra cup of flour and greased my hands so the dough would not stick. These turned out great.
I made theese last night! the familiy liked them a lot. I added a little extra eggnog because we love it so much. I agree with the first review; they taste better the next day!
I'm glad I did not post a review for these cookies right away. I wasn't really impressed with the cookies fresh out of the oven; they were a bit bland, despite the fact that I used freshly grated nutmeg. The taste actually improves the second day. I kept them in an airtight container. My 11-yr old son actually preferred these to other chocolate and peanut butter based cookies that were baked the same day. And we had a perfectly reasonable excuse to "have" to drink the leftover eggnog. :)
I thought 1 1/2 cups sugar seemed like to much so I only used 1 cup. I used 1 whole egg instead of 2 egg yolks. I got 36 cookies. I don't know how you could have just got 16. They were a nice average size. The flavour was good but I think they need more nutmeg in the ingredients, maybe 1 tsp. would be better.I baked them for 23 min. and they came out fine.
