Exactly what I was looking for. I used this as a birthday cake for someone who doesn't like frosting! Next time, I will attempt it as a layer cake with frosting, but it came out great as a single layer. I used white chocolate chips to decorate.

This cake was very moist and delicious!!!! I made three 13x9 pans for my son's birthday... I had to make so many because my cakes sank after I took them out of the oven. ?? I was trying to make a train cake and needed my cake to be taller than an inch. :) I am not sure if I did something wrong (I haven't made a lot of cakes) or maybe I didn't cook it long enough. however, I definitely like cake more dense than airy, so it was good!! I didn't try the frosting, but will next time.

I, too, was going to post this recipe but DiScharf was on the ball! Love this recipe. Took it to work today with frosting 55965 made with mint extract. Gosh, it was yummy. I actually made it with Hershey's new Special Dark cocoa. Fabulous...just fabulous. ENJOY! Had no problem with 2 pans. And it just popped right out of a pan that wasn't even floured! Just sprayed with Pam (I'm lazy that way! :0)

I was going to submit this recipe myself and notice that someone else with great chocolate taste had already done so. I bake my cake in a 9x13x2 pan and always frost it with Hershey's perfectly chocolate frosting. This is one of the easiest scratch cakes that I have ever made. I do make it often because everyone always request it. Anyone who is a chocolate lover will LOVE this cake and frosting!!

This cake was amazing.... well.... once i cleaned my oven after the pans spilled over like crazy.... i think it would be best to put this in 3 9" cake pans.. i did it in 2 and it became a complete mess... i thought i had to throw the whole cake out.... but i salvaged it and was very happy i did... the frosting was so great too!!! thanks for sharing....

This is the best chocolate cake! I love chocolate cake and have had many but this is the best one. It is moist and delicious and the chocolate flavor is smooth. Excellent! I made it for Thanksgiving and everyone loved it. I didn't make the frosting because the cake is so moist that it doesn't need it. Highly, highly recommended! Also, it stores very well. I just had the last piece today after storing it, on the counter covered with foil, for four days and it tasted just as good as day one.
