I need not make any other chocolate cake ever again because this one is a keeper! Of all cakes, chocolate has never been my favorite. I've long searched for a chocolate cake recipe that would satisfy me, but it had always eluded me until I tried this one. My family are all chocoholics, so they loved it, but I was surprised at how delicious this cake truly is. I couldn't stop eating it! I followed the recipe but added 2 tablespoons of instant espresso powder, an addition I found on Leite's Culinaria blog. It really accentuates the chocolate flavor. I also made some chocolate roses for decoration and leaves I shaped out of sour candy. A slice of this cake with a cold glass of milk is pure heaven!

I made this for a bday cake recently. I didn't have vegetable oil and used sunflower oil instead. Apart from that didn't make any changes to the recipe. It was lovely And yummy, moist and delicious, would make it again

I have this recipe in a cook book (which is currently misplaced). This is one of my favorite cake recipes. It turns out perfect every time and the frosting is to die for. The boiling water makes a difference too. Don't try to skimp out on it by adding hot water from the tap. The result is not the same.

I've made many variations of chocolate cake, but this recipe seems to be a cake that all chocolate likers will eat. I think it's the well balanced combination of ingredients that make it so well received--not too much chocolate or too much sugar. If you're cooking for family or guests who like chocolate, it may not be their favorite chocolate cake, but it's a cake they will all like and eat. You won't be wasting your time and effort making this cake.Thanks for posting the recipe and its variations.

I made this cake for my daughter's 1st birthday. I didn't use the frosting so I can't judge on that. The cake was moist and delicious. We topped it with strawberry frosting and it was perfect! I am definitely saving this one for making it again. Thanks for posting this one :-)

I've made this recipe twice now. The first time I followed the recipe exactly and used a different recipe I found for a chocolate moose filling and my family loved it. I used this recipe for the second time today on valentines day and made cake pops. This is my family's favorite chocolate cake recipe!
