This is from a cook booklet called "Old Fashioned Tomato Recipes" I bought it on a vacation at the beach in North Carolina about 11 years ago. It is simple and easy!!!
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 2 tablespoons vinegar
- 1 teaspoon onion, minced
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1⁄2 teaspoon dried basil or 1⁄2 teaspoon dried tarragon
- 1⁄4 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄8 teaspoon garlic salt, to taste
- Combine all ingredients in a salad jar or plain jar.
- Shake well and use on your favorite salad greens.
I am on the Weight Watcher's diet and really appreciated a salad dressing with 0 points. It was delicious on my salad of romaine, carrots, tomatoes, onion, zucchini, green pepper, and fresh roasted corn kernals. Thanks!
This is an excellent basic dressing, it really complements the flavor of the salad greens and it's exceptional with cucumbers! I used white wine vinegar, the dried tarragon and added just a little extra garlic salt and it's perfect. Even my fiance, who doesn't normally use anything but vinaigrette, liked it. Plus, it's soooo much cheaper than a bottle of commercial dressing! Thanks Bobtail, I'm making this over and over again.
