Helluva Hamburger Vegetable Soup

Very tasty New England Soup. Mom used to make this about every other week in the winter. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Ingredients Nutrition

  • 1 lb hamburger (lean)
  • 2 large turnips (diced)
  • 4 medium potatoes (diced)
  • 2 cups chopped carrots
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 1 cup mushroom (sliced)
  • 12 cups water
  • 4 teaspoons beef stock (or if desired substitute 3 cups of water for 3- 15oz cans beef broth.)


  1. Brown hamburger and onion in large stock pot.
  2. Add all other ingredients with the water Bring to boil Reduce heat to medium and let simmer approx 1 hour or until vegetables are tender.
  3. Season to Taste!
