Heavenly Pumpkin Pie Spice

This mix comes closest to my favourite store-bought pumpkin pie spice. Because I like to use it so often, I buy the individual spices in the bulk food section, then mix up a jar of it. Its less expensive than purchasing the little tins of name-brand spice mix, and you can stir up as little as or as much as you like at one time.

Ingredients:

Yield: 0.6666667 cup app ...

• 4 tablespoons cinnamon
• 2 tablespoons ginger
• 2 tablespoons nutmeg
• 1 tablespoon allspice
• 1 tablespoon clove

Directions:

1. Simply stir these spices together well and store in a small airtight jar or old spice container that will hold about 6 oz.
2. Sprinkle some onto your coffee grounds before you start the coffeemaker every morning -- it lends a wonderful aroma.
3. You can also mix this with some white sugar, as you would cinnamon-sugar, to sprinkle on your buttered toast etc.
4. Use it in any sweet baking -- its heavenly!

This recipe is great, I love the combination of spices. So far I have not used it in baking, but it smells wonderful and I plan on using it very soon.
Following one reviewer I added 1/2 tbs of cardamom to the mix and since I didnt have enough nutmeg, I used half mace for it.

i LOVE this recipe... it saves me so much $$$. i purchase the spices in the mexican section of my store so each ingredient is only .99 and it's way more than i need for this recipe.
