    Annacia's Note:

From Baking for All Occasions by Flo Braker. Flo says: "Baking the silky, intense chocolate topping on crunchy (firm) shortbread makes for neatly cut brownies that will lend panache to any dessert time. I prefer to chop the nuts for this recipe in a nut mill for consistently even chopped nuts. For a more attractive finish, after you chop the nuts, sieve them to remove nut "dust" before topping the brownie." Don't be put off by the length of the recipe, it's just very detailed.

Very good bars which we enjoyed. Instead of the hazelnuts used pecans but other wise made as directed. Thanks for sharing!

Wow! We loved these decadent brownie shortbread bars! The shortbread provides an excellent base to a rich and fudgy brownie layer, and the hazelnut topping provides a nice crunch. I was very tempted to drizzle some melted Nutella over the top but I refrained and I am so glad I did....these brownies are delicious as is and don't need any additional embellishments. Thanks for sharing the recipe! Made for Newest Zaar tag.
