Healthy Steak and Guinness Pie

  1. HEAT oil in frying pan and cook chopped carrot,diced onion, sliced mushroom, sliced celery, sage until soft;.
  2. Transfer to casserole dish.
  3. Cut beef into 1 - 2 inch pieces.
  4. COAT beef in flour and add to fry pan; add extra oil if needed; BROWN.
  5. ADD to casserole dish.
  6. COMBINE beef stock and guinness; add to casserole dish; salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Cover and bake for 2 hours on 150 degrees; stir occasionally.
  8. TRANSFER cooked meat and vegetables to either 1 pie dish or individual ramekin dishes; TOP with puff pastry; brush with egg wash or milk.
  9. Piece puff pastry with fork and cook for approximately 25 minutes until golden.
  10. Enjoy!

We love this recipe! We have made it several times and love it more each time.
We skip the sage and add Mrs Dash, not sage lovers. Man it is yummy!

yummm. made this for a potluck, and everyone enjoyed. I did use a small pie crust for the top instead of phyllo, and baked at 350 for 1 hour instead of the lower temp for longer (since I ran out of time) but, turned out wonderful. On the keeper list. Thanks

I made this last night with sour cream potatoes, and I will definitely make it again!! We have had this dish at an Irish pub, and the flavor was identical. I do not like to drink Guinness, but it is worth buying to use in recipes. Try this, you won't be disappointed!!
