      These were good though I did need to make a few changes. Instead of corn meal, I used wheat germ. I used milk in place of water; I also needed probably 2/3 cup of milk instead of 1/3. It was too thick otherwise. I used a whole egg in place of the egg white and omitted the cloves and nutmeg. They were quite tasty. The only complaint from the kids was that there weren't more of them. Next time I will have to double the recipe so there will be enough---I only got 10 square waffles which was not enough for 4 kids and a mom. : ) Thanks for posting.

      I changed these ever so slightly, mostly for convenience, and they were lovely. I omitted the egg substitute and used two eggs, I used apple pie spice instead of the individual spices, skipped the sugar and used vanilla flavored Greek yogurt instead of the plain. I did not beat the whites separately, but I am sure it will make the texture even fluffier when I have the time. Due to the lack of butter or oil, I did have to spray the iron, but it was worth it. Thank you for posting, I'll be making these often!
