I didn't add the milk to mine, they turned out great.
I created an account just to write this review. Don't waste your time. I wasted mine and my hungry baby's plus the ingredients. I cooked and cooked and cooked these and they stayed gooey in the middle. I even cut them into bite sized pieces and they still wouldn't cook!
These would not cook through - I even tried silver dollar size at a lower temp (which took forever) but still gooey and undercooked. All went in the trash. Very disappointing.
The center never cooked through. I tried the recipe as is and also added more milk to thin it out. Both efforts turned out goopy in the center.
I'm sorry to be a negative nancy but we followed this recipe to the T and it was terrible. The flavor was fine but the pancakes never cooked in the center. To clarify my level of expertise, I make pancakes every week, one or twice a week. I've never had a problem with pancakes that don't cook enough. I think the ratio of applesauce to milk to flour is off. I don't know how to tell people to fix the recipe except to say, don't use that much applesauce.
I added more milk to have a thinner consistency. I used unsweetened applesauce. They were great. But we ate them with maple syrup, a classic here. Thanks rachelallen :) Made for PAC Spring 2012
Made these with unsweetened applesauce and they didn't need any additional sugar! I did add a little more milk to thin the batter out but otherwise made as written. Made for 2012 Spring PAC.
We thoroughly enjoyed your pancakes, but I have to admit to having used some homemade applesauce that had a bit of sugar in it! Still, the 'cakes were delicious, & we thank you much for posting the recipe! [Made & reviewed for one of my adoptees in this Spring's round of Pick A Chef]
