  1. Combine cornstarch, sugar and salt.
  2. Add 1/2 cup coconut milk and blend into a smooth paste.
  3. Heat remaining milk and add cornstarch mixture.
  4. Cook for 20 minutes, stirring frequently until thickened.
  5. Pour into 8" square baking pan.
  6. Cool and refrigerate.
  7. Cut into squares.

I grew up in Hawaii then moved away for college, and I have missed haupia SO MUCH. This is exactly how I remember it.
