So delicious! I just threw everything in the pan. Hash browns were still frozen; I pounded them apart with my meat mallet. I only added 1/4 C. parmesan on top. I also added a cubed ham slice. Made a great dinner casserole, and also was even better microwaved for breakfast the next day. Thanks!

I have been using this same recipe for many years -- the only thing that is different is that I add 1/2 c. chopped onion to the mixture. The soups can be varied as well (cream of celery, cream of potato, cream of mushroom). I've also done the crushed cornflakes mixed with some melted butter for the topping -- as well as some crushed french fried onion rings. This is a very good basic recipe that can be altered in many ways. For a Mexican party theme, I added a can of chopped green chilies. Thanks for saving me the chore of posting this!!!! It's a great recipe.

I am a 77 yr old man who loves to cook. I made 1/2 the recipe for two of us. Instead of a 9x13 casserole I will use 8x8 next time. Turned out great, has that Cracker Barrell flavour. What was missing is onions. Would they cook? Anyway my wife said she could eat the whole casserole. Thanks.

I quickly assembled this easy recipe the night before - using thawed hash browns, light sour cream, low-fat cheddar, and garlic powder (instead of garlic salt.) I took it out of the fridge the next morning and let it come to room temperature before baking it for brunch. The four of us loved it. (Carolina fan: FYI, we're originally from N.C. too.) This easy and flavorful recipe is definitely a keeper! Thanks for sharing.

Totally yummy!! Instead of the garlic salt, I used minced fresh garlic - other than that I didn't change a thing. This would be a perfect potluck item and I'm sure it would disappear in a hurry. Since there is only two of us, I split the recipe into two 8x8 baking dishes and gave one to my sister & her family. They really liked it too, and they are all picky eaters! 5 stars and 2 thumbs up! Thanks for posting this recipe, carolinafan. -M :-)

Yummy, yummy! I made this for dinner tonight and we all liked it. Thanks for the great, and EASY recipe! I didn't use quite the whole bag of potatoes and added some black pepper. Turned out great.

I made this for a family dinner and everyone loved it. It's easy to make, contains no onion, which pleased some of the pickier eaters, and is delicious! I will definately make this again. Thanks!
