This recipe is truly superb, and very easy to put together! I made it for my Mom's birthday dinner. I have to admit I was a little nervous about putting instant coffe in an apple pie, but I shouldn't have had any doubts. The texture was perfect and rich, but not overly so. I grated some fresh nutmeg on the middle layer, and on top. I also used a 9-inch pie pan, and 2 Roma apples. It looked beautiful, and tasted wonderful. *thunk* (that was the sound of the recipe going straight to my 'keeper' file). Thanks Bergy! (ps: I also served this with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream and a PERFECT Ginger Cookie Perfect Ginger Cookies. Talk about heaven)
I'm not much of a pie maker so figured I couldn't mess this up too badly, but it was fantastic! Everyone loved it and I should have made two pies instead of one!
This is a great tasting dessert, love the crust i am going to try using this on other pies. areal keeper
Pretty good pie! I love the mix of the almonds and apples! Sprinkled extra cinnamon sugar on top before baking, and extra cinnamon after baking for color.
Bergy, this was just so good. The only thing I changed was to use fresh coffee as I didn't have any instant. Thank you so much for posting this.
This was a breeze to make and tastes wonderful. The finished pie looked so lovely. But...I couldn't get it out of the pan in one piece. Even the flat parts on the bottom stuck. I do think this was my fault rather than the recipe's. I just didn't feel secure with just "pressing down slightly", and pushed too hard, I think. Another casualty of pie insecurity. Taking off stars wouldn't be fair, so no rating. I want to try this again sometime, and see if I can get it right. Thank you for the recipe. It is delicious.
