This is a very flavorful soup. We are avid soup eaters, and this is the best we've come across in a long time!! I added 1/2 cup sliced celery, and used fresh vegetables. I let it simmer for almost an hour. The onion sopp mix gives this a great beefy taste. I will defifitely make this one again! Thanks!

I use a 14.5 ounce can of crushed tomatoes. The great thing about this recipe is you can use frozen vegetables, fresh veggies, or add spices at will and it always turns out great!

Great tasting hearty soup. I used 1/2 a packet of frozen chunky vegetables and 1 can of whole kernel corn also added approx 1 tsp dried thyme. We didnt find the soup salty at all, and I also added the beef boullion. Thanks for posting. =)

Really great soup!! I used frozen vegetables instead of canned and it turned out great! Next time I think I'll add a bit of thyme to this dish and perhaps some turnips. The wine really makes a nice difference. I also used a large can of crushed tomatoes seeing as you did not specify the size. I didn't find it to salty as I also used reduced salt beef boullion. Thanks for a great recipe!!

We enjoyed this soup. It was very easy to make. I followed the recipe as written other then I used a can of diced potatoes. I also used two 15 ounce cans of crushed tomatoes and 2 cans of water as we like a thick soup. My family enjoyed this but added some salt and old bay at the table. I also didn't use the wine and didn't deglaze the pan as I didn't have any wine. Yummy soup!

I used 1 lb ground turkey and 1 lb ground sirloin, 1 Tbs thyme, 1 chopped bell pepper. I did not use the wine or deglazing step. My friends and family loved it. Thank you for a fast and delicious recipe.

Terrific recipe! I followed as directed, except I used a 16 oz. bag of frozen soup vegetables (potatoes, gr. beans, peas, carrots, limas, okra) to replace the 3 cans of veggies. Used 5 small white potatoes and a 14 oz. can of diced tomatoes. Added a cup or so of thawed frozen corn toward the end. I also left out one can of water to make it more of a stew. Delicious, quick and easy - thanks for posting!

Mmmmm....what an absolutely delicious soup and so easy to prepare (great for all you beginner cooks out there). I added a 28 oz. can of diced tomatoes and 2 more cans of water. Both hubby and myself enjoy a good soup and will definitely be making this one again.

I used this recipe as a base. I did not add the wine. But instead used more water, some tomato sauce and fresh veges along with the canned and simmered it longer. My family loved it! It is just like a mix I used to buy. I had been looking for a recipe like it. A true keeper!

DH gave this recipe five stars. On his first bite he stated "MMMMM!!!". I used a 14.5 ounce can of petite diced tomatoes (since I didn't have any crushed tomatoes) and I used a combination of fresh and frozen vegetables. I used all of the onion soup mix and beef bouillon that was called for and it did not make the soup too salty. I added additional spices to this soup: seasoning salt, a pinch of sugar, garlic powder, and italian dried herbs. Lastly I added 1 tsp of cornstarch to slightly thicken the broth. Thanks for posting your recipe. I'll be making it again.

What a great soup recipe that allows for personal customization. I used merlot as the wine, which I thought gave it a wonderful flavor. I also added 1 t. each of thyme and marjoram and added some chopped celery. This is a great recipe to use to empty out your fridge. Thanks Denise H. My family and I enjoyed this.
