We liked this dish a lot. It was easy to put together, and the flavors all complimented each other. I did not use the Tabasco because I used 1 Tbsp. of New Mexico chile powder, and it is much hotter than supermarket brands. It worked out perfectly. When I started putting the ingredients together, I only had 8oz. of tomato sauce, so I added 1 can crushed tomatoes, and 1/4 cup tomato juice as substitue for another 8oz. of tomato sauce. It came out moist and the noodles were cooked well...no crunch to them. I will make this one again, and hopefully I will have 2 cans of the tomato sauce. Flavor was ok, but don't put the hamburger in the dish raw! It doesn't cook in the alloted time, and it actually took 2 to 2 1/2 hours for this to cook, and by then the other ingredients were overcooked. I suggest browning the beef first!
I liked this recipe. I bumped up the servings by using 5 1/2 cups noodles, 1 1/2 lb hamburger (though I used lamb-burger), 2 1/2 cups frozen corn, 1 1/2 cup milk, 1 cup water, 2 (16oz) cans of tomato sauce, 2 Tbsp chili powder and just 2 cups cheddar cheese. I sprinkled servings with grated Parmesan cheese. I cooked it for the times written and used an 11x15 pan. Make sure no noodles are sticking above the sauce, as the edges that are exposed, even if covered with sauce, get burnt. I may cover the pan next time I make it. Very good! Thanks for posting it.
Made it. Loved it. Super, super easy, and quick. Leaves plenty of time to entertain instead of standing at the stove all day. I used spices to tend to our need for really hot food, but that's it. Thanks for posting it!
great one dish meal. i have not been able to work since my heart attack and my wife is working two jobs and i saw this recipe and thought i would try it. it turned out great and was so easy to fix. my wife was impressed.
We found this to be a really superb and easy dish. I used lean hamburger and omitted putting the second half of the cheese on the top. I used the 15 1/4 oz can of creamed corn, a 2 1/4 oz can of sliced olives, and a 7 oz can of sliced mushrooms. I made it up the night before and just slipped it into the oven when the wife and I got home from work today. It will most definitely find it's way back onto our table!
This was very good. I think that next time though, I won't mix the cheese in with the tomatos sauce & noodles - I'll just put it on top.
