This is really good!! The sauce was a little sweet but not too sweet. The whiskey enhanced the sauce. I used canned chicken broth for the liquid. After I added the whiskey to the sauce, I let it cook for a few minutes to cook some of the alcohol out of it. It made the sauce taste even better. If you don't cook with alcohol, the sauce is good without it too. I tasted the sace as it was cooking and before adding the whiskey and it was good!! I will be making this again.

I got this recipe off of another site years ago and have made it often since. I always chop up extra onions so that the sauce is chunky. I also cook the sauce a little after adding the whiskey to burn off some of the alcohol. This sauce tastes great over any vegetable that goes with ham, especially green beans. Super quick and tasty.

Another great dish from ~Rita~! I wouldn't have thought these ingredients would come together so nicely...absolutely delicious. Only change is I made it with one very large ham slice (steak). Came out great...thanks again ~Rita~. :)

Really good! I wasn't expecting much, but was looking for some different Irish dish, and this one really suprised me and my wife. The stock I used was beer and bullion. I added some salt and pepper to taste. Came out a tad salty but we liked it that way. I probably added some garlic too as usual and I used maybe two shots of whiskey (JWR) near the end so it didn't cook out the alchohol bite I love. Delish! Side dishes were sauteed fresh spinach with mushroom, red onion, cream, country dijon, and garlic. Also new baby red potatoes with fresh parsley and parmesan. Enjoy with a nice stout. THANK YOU! :)

I thought it was pretty good, but my husband said it was just "all right". I agree that cooking the whiskey a bit makes the sauce better. I gave the recipe a 3 because we did not like it enough to make again.
