This is a recipe where the basis came from the Joy Of Cooking. I added the spices.
- 1⁄4 cup liquid honey
- 1⁄4 cup soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon prepared mustard
- 1 clove garlic, grated
- 1 slice ginger, peeled and grated
- 1 pinch dill
- Place all ingredients in a bowl and mix thoroughly.
- Allow to sit at room temperature for approximately 1 hour, if desired.
- Use this glaze on your ham according to your own recipe.
Hmm...not trying to be mean at all when I say this. I'm very disappointed with the way my ham came out tonight. In fact, I'd like to throw it all in the garbage and a little upset I wasted such a fine piece of meat. I searched so hard for the perfect recipe, and come to find out....this was not it! Although, I truly love all the ingredients in it. The one thing I noticed is how extremely salty the flavor was. The next thing I noticed, is that the ingredients did not flow together. Ham is already very salty, so my fault for adding more salt to it(like in the soy sauce) If you are an avid salt lover, maybe the soy sauce would be for you. Even so, it was not a nice flavor with the ingredients used. I would not recommend this recipe, although my boyfriend says he loved it.
Perfect flavor- the herb additions give just the right compliment.
