      I love bean soup and I love crock pot cooking, so this combination was a hit with me. I made exactly as written and it turned out perfectly. I liked the consistency of the soup after mashing about 2 cups of the beans and adding them back to the soup. I especially loved the way my house smelled while the soup was simmering in the crock pot. Thanks for another terrific recipe JB. Made for September 2010 Aus/NZ Swap.

      Very easy and very tasty. Used low sodium chicken broth instead of water because I didn't have any bouillon in the house.

      One word. Yummy! This is very similar to the recipe my mom used to make while I was growing up. I have been searching forever to try and replicate what she made. The searching is over! The only change I made was leaving out the cubed ham. The ham bone I had was pretty meaty - so left it at that. The boys and I were talking and thought sausage would make a great replacement for the ham. They even said both together! lol We had this with Irish and Scottish Gaelic Soda Bread Scones.

      The taste has some getting used to, since I have never done my beans with celery and bay leaves. But it was tasty. Made for Photo Tag.
