I loved this dish, I never made Gumbo before and I was scared to death but this was easy and soooo tasty! I moved to The Netherlands 8 years ago and though of trying something new that my husband and family has never tried before, so I decided to make this. OMG They loved it!! I used chicken, shrimp and sausage. I also added can corn and tomatos. :D I did not have creole seasoning that i could buy so i made it using Emeril Creole Seasons Recipe. It was super yummy!

Thank you Kevin for the wonderful recipe!!

We added the okra and it really sealed the deal. This is an awesome recipe and even though e skipped the rice, it was very filling.

EXCELLENT! The only things I did differently were...I used Bisquick in place of flour. I boiled my shrimp heads strained and used that Juice which came out to 3 cups and added one cup of Chicken Broth to make the 4 cups.

I thank you for this recipe because I never could make gumbo and now its fast and delicious.

Sooo delicious! I omitted the salt because the seasoning had plenty, and also the sausage. Otherwise, made it as written, and it was a huge hit with the hubby! Thank you!

Great base recipe! I added a bay leaf, okra, shrimp, chicken, cajun sausage, and snow crab legs. I also added 1 teaspoon of gumbo file powder at the end for a little more thickness and flavor and it was perfect!

My husband is always asking me to make this gumbo recipe! I usually make a triple batch and freeze some, on those days that seem to never end, I can pull out a container and simply heat it up and cook some rice. Thanks for sharing this!!

we love this recipe when i make it i have to do two pans one copied exactly as written and one using veg stock with quorn chicken pieces and quorn sausage for my veggie husband it always goes down well and since discovering i have had it requested at least once a week and i can only imagine how often im going to be asked to make it once the weather turns chilly. i dont add any tabasco until after i have dished my kids out as they prefer it less spicy than me but i add quite a few splashes to mine definately a keeper

Very easy and tasty recipe to follow. Did 1lb shrimp and 1lb chicken fillets (cut in bite size pieces). Added okra. Also added crushed red pepper flakes (1/8 tsp) plus 4 drops of tabasco sauce like some have suggested. Served over white rice in a bowl. Next time, I'll try 1lb shrimp and 1lb sausage combo. Good accompanied by sweet tea or cold beer. Thanks for the recipe!

January in Louisiana is perfect gumbo weather. (Cut my finger while chopping the veggies, but who needs 'em anyway?) Made for Soups and Breads Recipe Tag.

This was crazy good! It wasn't so spicy my 2 and 4 yr old couldn't eat it. They loved it too! My husband and I added a dash of tabasco to ours to spice it up. Next time I make it, I'll use butter to make my roux, only because I love the taste. I added okra and instead of a red pepper, I added a can of diced tomatoes because we like a tomato base. This was awesome and will now replace my old recipe. Thanks!
