  • Soak beans over night.
  • When ready place all ingredients in either a slow cooker, pressure cooker or stock pot on the stove and let simmer all day on low. Usually around 6 hours.
  • Serve with sour cream, sweet plantains, tortillas or fresh bread.

  3. these were delicious. any bean could work here. i've had beans in guatemala several times and have always wanted to make them and now i know how! and so simple. i used red beans and didnt use as much garlic or salt (adjusted to taste) such good flavor. thanks
