I got this recipe from http://www.madsrecipes.com/ website. My husband didn't like the way I made sloppy joes before I tried these. He loves these sloppy joes. I try to make them every month or 2. They have a really good flavor I use the red wine vinegar in mine. For myself because of my gluten problem I serve it open faced on a slice of "L - C Gluten Free Basic Flax Meal Focaccia Bread". I also don't use quite as many onions because my family doesn't like them that much. I use about 1/2 to 1 onion depending on the size. Be very careful when serving this, mine comes out very hot! Some have commented that you don't need to make this in the crock pot. I agree, I haven't been making it in the crock pot lately. I half the recipe and use it to make gluten free Sloppy Joe Pot Pie, which is pretty good.

Great recipe! This has become a regular, though in my opinion, the crock pot isn't necessary to get a flavorful meal. I cook the turkey and onions first, then add the rest of the ingredients in a frying pan or sauce pan and let simmer for 20-30 mins.
- 2 lbs ground turkey
- 2 medium onions, chopped
- 2 (15 ounce) cans tomato sauce
- 1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
- 1⁄2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1⁄3 cup red wine or 1⁄3 cup cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons liquid smoke
- 1⁄2 teaspoon seasoning salt
- 1⁄4 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
