Ground Turkey Goulash

"This is absolutely delicious! Try this on people who claim they don't like ground turkey. They shouldn't be able tell this isn't ground beef. Warmed up leftovers are even tastier. I did not use the parmesan cheese when I made this."

directions

  • Cook turkey in olive oil until no longer pink. Add onion and celery, cook until onion is soft. Add green pepper and garlic, cook several minutes. Add tomatoes with liquid, mushrooms, along with other seasonings.
  • While mixture simmers, cook pasta according to directions. Be sure pasta is not overcooked before adding to mixture as it will continue to soften. Add drained pasta into sauce, cover and let simmer about 1/2 hour to absorb flavor. Stir occasionally. Sprinkle with parmesan cheese if desired.

Reviews

  1. Tasty and easy. Some hot sauce really amped up the flavor. I liked it on its own without noodles too!

  2. Great low calorie dish, however a bit bland. I added a dash of ketchup, Worcester sauce, dried red pepper flakes, seasoned salt, and few spoons of salsa to zip it up. I didn't have onion powder, but used a larger diced onion. I probably would add some red wine when browning the ground turkey next time.

  3. Great Recipe, have made this many times.. I used it as more of a base though. After reading other recipes I expected it to be a bit bland. I at least doubled spices and added crushed red pepper, salt &pepper for a bit more flavor. I use a parm/rom shredded cheese mix for a bit more flavor. Also use both red and green pepper!! Overall a great start though..every one who i have made this for has loved it.

  4. I have made multiple times. A great base. Add some extra spices and additions ( read the other reviews ) and you'll be satisfied.

  5. Loved this recipe ! I used a chickpea and rice flour pasta for the noodles and it was amazing ! I also added a little xantham gum to the mixture to thicken keeping it as healthy as possible and still being able to adhere to our training and meal plan !! Thank you for sharing this with the rest of us !

Tweaks

  1. Good! I used carrots instead of celery and macaroni for the pasta. Easy to make!

  2. Yum! I used chopped zucchini instead of celery and omitted the mushrooms. I also used red and green bell peppers. My noodles were "no yolks" whole wheat egg noodles. I think the dish needs a little more flavor...will probably add some salt and pepper, and more garlic next time. Thanks for the recipe!
