Ground Turkey Cabbage Joes

Adapted from an recipe. My version is a bit healthier, using ground turkey, unsweetened ketchup and sugar substitute. You can certainly substitute beef and real sugar and it would be just as tasty. We like a sweeter sloppy so I usually add more sweetener for us. Enjoy in good health!

Ingredients Nutrition

  1. Spray treat a large non-stick skillet. Add turkey and vegetables. Cook over medium heat until meat is cooked through and vegetables are starting to tender.
  2. In a small bowl, stir together the remaining ingredients. Stir into the turkey and vegetables, mixing well. Cover and simmer for about 10 minutes.

Fun recipe. I really liked the contrast between the ground turkey and cabbage. Good flavor, used regular ketchup, BSugar and celery seed being I didn't have celery on hand. Had to add a clove of garlic. Makes a lot!!! Will freeze half for another time. Thanks for the recipe!

Yum, yum, yum! We made a few substitutions - I used regular ketchup and brown sugar, and I didn't have any green pepper or celery, so I used some finely diced summer squash instead. It was fabulous, and I loved that I was sneaking all those nutritious veggies into my kids and they were none the wiser! Will definitely make again! Thanks!

A great, healthier sloppy joe. I love cabbage and my family loves sloppy joes so this was a good way to get some veggie in there. I don't know what unsweetened ketchup is, I used Trader Joe's organic- but 3/4 cup and 3/4 cup tomato sauce. I also used real brown sugar and regular white vinegar. I will definitely make these again, thanks Clare!
