I haven't had stroganoff in so long!! I was thrilled that it was so easy to throw together. I did substitute the cream of chicken soup for cream of mushroom and added some Worcestershire sauce. My husband added some red wine to his... he seemed very pleased.
I used this recipe as more or less a rough guide as I changed a few things. Omitted mushrooms but used a can of cream of mushroom instead of chicken. Also added garlic powder and substituted beef bouillon for the salt. Drained grease before adding the cream of mushroom but added in some extra butter and about a 1/2 cup water for a looser sauce. Didn't have plain sour cream but had sour cream ranch dip and used that instead. My mother always made her "cheater's stroganoff" with only ranch dip, hamburger, and pasta so I knew i'd like the flavor. Added a little extra of the seasonings, simmered, and served over pasta. It came out great and my DH loved it. So simple, and pretty quick so I will be making this again :)
Thank Goodness for you! This was quick and easy. Made it veg by using Morningstar crumbles, and cream of mushroom soup. (have a quick homemade recipe). So good. Great as is and as a base to add to. Gonna add red wine and chopped garlic next time. Great for unexpected omni guests!
SO easy and yummy too. I forgot to add the paprika and I did miss that extra spice. Next time I'll be sure to add it and maybe some garlic pepper or a splash of red wine. Also I just cooked the onions in with the ground beef to keep it a one pan meal and that worked just fine. Thanks for an easy dinner that I'll be working into the rotation!
Delicious and SO quick and easy! The only changes I made were to use fresh mushrooms instead of canned and cream of mushroom soup instead of cream of chicken. I also cooked the onions with the ground beef which worked fine. It tasted like a meal that took lots of prep and time to cook but was start-to-finish ready in only a few minutes. We will certainly make this again very soon. Thank you!
I have been making this exact same recipe for many years. It is the only stroganoff we eat now. To add a little Bohemian flavor add a tbl of Heinz '57 Sauce. HP Sauce would work also. But the first time you try it, follow this recipe with no additions or subtractions.
I was searching for a quick recipe for ground beef and noodles as that was pretty much all I had left with which to make dinner. I found this recipe and I am SO happy I did. I didn't have sour cream but I did have evaporated milk and a lemon. Problem solved. I added 1 tsp. onion powder but kept the rest of the recipe the same. It was a little salty for me but otherwise delicious!! Totally kid approved in my house (I will say I don't have picky kids). I am wondering what it would taste like with fresh mushrooms and cream of mushroom soup. But this recipe is a keeper for sure as is!!
Delicious! I have tried many Ground Beef Stroganoff recipes, so far this one is the best!! I added some garlic while cooking the onions....Thanks for a delicious quick recipe!!
I also added the 2 cloves garlic but did not use the mushrooms. It had great flavor and was very easy.
This was the best homemade stroganoff I've ever had! My kids loved it and they are very hard to please, so I am glad to say that this will be at least a OAMC recipe for me! And I am always eager to please the family when company comes, so I will more than likely make this for them next time ( I will modify for weight watchers though). Thanks!
