A quick side dish you can cook on your grill alongside your main dish. This recipe requires a grill wok.
- 1 red onion, cut into 8 wedges
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- salt and pepper
- 3⁄4 lb green beans, trimmed
- 1 tablespoon oil
- In bowl, toss 1 red onion, cut into 8 wedges, with 1 tablespoon olive oil; season with salt and pepper. Cook in hot grill wok until caramelized on one side, 3 to 5 minutes.
- In bowl, toss 3/4 pound trimmed green beans with 1 tablespoon oil. Flip onions; put beans on top. Cook until beans are tender, 5 to 15 minutes.
Lvs2Cook, we liked this way of fixing beans. After reading the other review, I blanched the beans in the microwave and then tossed in olive oil, onions, garlic and garlic and herb seasoning before finishing on the grill. They came out perfect. Thanks for a new recipe.
I had trouble getting the onion to caramelize on the grill. Perhaps my heat setting was off, but the onions wanted to really burn instead of caramelize. My hubby would have preferred the green beans to be a little less crisp, also. I think that it is a good idea, but needs more practice on my part.
