I might have given this 5 stars if the flavor wasn't so much like jerk instead of zesty. I was hoping to get that caribbean kick, but didn't feel it. This was good & the hens came out tender (we rotisseried them). I think we may have a bit of fun tweeking this recipe to zing it up a bit. Thanks for posting!

I made this yesterday and followed the recipe exactly. I did marinate the hens for about 2 hours before grilling and then basted them during the first half of grilling. They had an excellent flavor and the hens were nice and juicy. Thanks for a great post!

I marinated cornish hens in the ingredients all day and then threw them on my Weber grill. Magnificent! I used powdered ginger and minced onion flakes because that's what I had on hand and it works fine. I could really taste the cinnamon and cloves which really gave it a good flavor.

Very good! Instead of using cornish hens, I marinaded skinless chicken breasts in the sauce for about 3 hours and then grilled them. Lovely flavor. I think next time, I will do zest & juice of 1 orange & 1 lime. Thank you very much for sharing this lovely recipe!

I read the comments and realized that I had all of the ingredients on hand. Wow - what a wonderful basting sauce! I marinated the hens in the sauce for an hour or so. Then put them on the grill on low. Takes about an hour and a half. Every 10 minutes I basted the halves with the sauce. It was a HIT with my friends and boyfriend. Finger licking good! Thanks for the great recipe.

This was fantastic. The hens took forever to cook it seemed like but it was worth the wait, even my picky son liked these. We are going to try this marinade on just chicken breast next time. Thank you for a great new idea for chicken.

Absolutely fabulous!!! I did use the sauce as a marinade first and will do this always. This was the first time in a long time that I'd cooked for my DF and he was impressed. Thanks for the recipe!!
