This recipe is simply delicious! I had some issues with the actual recipe itself, although it did turn out very nice and my dinner guests raved about it, especially the crust.
I found it confusing that the ingredients are not listed in the order they are used. Also, I was (and still am) confused about the serving size of instant pudding listed. 3.5 oz total? 3.5 oz each? I could locate only 1.5 oz and 2.1 oz sizes of instant pudding at the store. I ended up measuring out 3.5 oz total with my scale and mixing with 3 cups of milk; I am not sure if that was the intention of the amount that should be used or not. It might be helpful to clarify this point in the original recipe.
I also found it difficult to get layers 1 and 2 to fill the entire 13x9" pan. Again, not a big deal because it turned out delicious but next time I may consider doubling those two layers, or even increasing by 50%, to avoid this.

Already made 3 weeks in a row. Yum is an underestimate of this desert. The crust is my favorite ever and yet so simple. Thanks for sharing, Dawn in Missouri

Thanks for the recipe which I have but had forgotten about. It's my kids favorite dessert and since they are both coming to visit this weekend I'll be making it for them. They will be so pleased!

I've had similar chocolate treats before so it's no surprise to anyone around here that I'd turn to this recipe for A GREAT CHOCOLATE FIX! And, this is one of those times when I did the whole garnish bit ~ I chopped up some cherries & toasted pecans & then included some dark chocolate shavings for that little extra 'healthy' boost (At least I keep telling myself about the healthy aspect of it all)! We used to call this "Chocolate Yum Yum" and I lost the recipe. I was so happy to find it here! Gretchen's 4 Layer is the same recipe and it's absolutely wonderful! You'll be tempted to eat it all in one sitting! An old favorite I'm so happy to find again! Thanks for posting.

To die for! However, I used 1 chocolate and 1 vanilla pudding mix. It was still good! Thanks for posting!

This is delicious. We followed ingredients except we only had large pudding pkg. This was our dessert for Christmas Dinner. Made for Newest Tag 2007.
