Greek Sour Cream Cake

The addition of lemon zest on top and lemon extract added to the cake and the sauce greatly enhance the desired flavor. A very moist cake, but bland without added lemon flavor.

  1. Prepare syrup: boil syrup ingredients 10 minutes and let cool.
  2. Cake: melt butter and cool.
  3. Then cream with sugar and eggs.
  4. Add mixed flour( baking powder,soda) alternately with milk and sour cream to the batter.
  5. Stir in vanilla.
  6. Pour into a greased 9 x 13 pan.
  7. Bake in a 350F oven about 35 minutes or until tested done. POUR COOLED SYRUP OVER HOT CAKE.
  8. Let cake cool completely before cutting.
