Based on a recipe from Arden Moore’s book, Real Food for Dogs, 50 Vet-Approved Recipes to Please the Canine Gastronome. The intro to the recipe says, “Your meat-loving dog will ‘Sit’ on command if you serve this easy–to-make recipe. Hey, where is it written that cookies must be sweet to taste good?” The basic yield is 24 treats; your yield will depend on your cookie cutter.

Made this recipe 100+ times ? our dogs #1 favorite.
. Increase flour by 1 cup (to 3 ½ Cups) ? will still yield a soft dough.
. Other flavor options -- chicken / turkey baby food and gravy. Even sweet potato baby food.
. Use standing mixer w/dough hook ? works great.
Mix only till well blended ? no need to knead.

When you turn dough out of mixer ? divide in half and mist (or gently coat w/hands) the dough with olive or vegetable oil so it doesn?t stick to rolling pin.
Easier and cleaner than trying to roll in flour if too moist.

The NO WASTE/ FAST FINISH?..
Roll flat on silpat (works best) or parchment paper and cut in bit sized pieces using a pizza cutter or pastry wheel (works best). One batch will make two full size sheet pans (18x26) Keep cookies uniform in size so they bake evenly. Cook as directed.

Dog treats will shrink slightly and separating at cut lines while cooking. Break apart when cooled. Our dogs don?t really care of they are bone shaped, triangles or squares ? the pastry wheel results in a nice scalloped edge.

HEADS UP -- no preservatives so they will mold after 4-5 days if not frozen. Keep in freezer for months.
