My mother-in-law handed this down to me because she says that this is the best homemade nut pie ever, with a yummy flaky crust.

Although I'm not much for pecan pies, I thoroughly enjoyed making this recipe with mixed nuts! Absolutely delicious, & something I'd make again, for sure! Thanks for sharing your MIL's recipe!   1. Preheat oven to 425°F.
  2. For flaky crust, combine the flour, crisco, salt, cold water and baking powder in a bowl, and then pat onto a pie pan and bake until golden brown, about 9-12 minutes.
  3. For the nut filling, beat thesugar, salt, butter, eggs and syrup until blended, and then stir in nuts.
  4. Pour into your prepared crust (made or bought), bake at 375°F for 40-50 minutes.
