A nice summery drink for people who like iced tea and citrus juice. It dulls down the bitter tang of the grapefruit a bit and gives you that nice fresh taste that tea-lovers crave.
- Drop the teabags into the cold grapefruit juice and let steep for a minimum of 10 minutes, stirring often. The longer it steeps, the more tea flavour it will have.
- If desired, dilute with some water, tonic water, club soda, sprite, or 7-Up, for a less-intense flavour.
I made this tea as written, but I used 8 tea bags, as I thought the 4 tea bags wouldn't of given this tea much flavor. After a bit more than 8 hours, I found I still couldn't taste the tea, just the grapefruit juice, so I decided to brew some tea and add some of it to the leftover grapefruit juice/tea. To a glass pitcher I added 6 tea bags, and 3 cups of almost boiling hot water. I covered the pitcher with Saran Wrap, and let it sit for an hour. Afterwards, I just added 1 cup of the brewed tea, to 6 cups of the leftover grapefuit juice/tea mixture, and found it tasted pretty good. If I were to rate this recipe as written, I would just give this recipe 1 STAR, but since I was able to modify the recipe to my liking, I decided to give this recipe 4 STARS. I will most likely make this again, but next time I will use a ruby red tangerine grapefruit juice, as when I made this tea, I did use Old Orchard's Ruby Red Grapefruit Juice. If you like grapefruit juice and tea, you will enjoy this beverage.
