- 2 cups rolled oats
- 1⁄4 cup wheat germ
- 1⁄2 cup dried cranberries
- 1⁄2 cup chopped dates
- 1⁄2 cup shredded coconut
- 1⁄4 cup sunflower seeds
- 1⁄3 cup slivered almonds
- 1⁄2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 tablespoon melted butter
- 1⁄2 cup brown sugar
- 1⁄4 cup maple syrup
- 1⁄4 cup honey
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- 1⁄2 teaspoon vanilla
directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Spray a 9-inch square baking pan with non-stick cooking spray.
- Combine oats, wheat germ, dried fruits, coconut, sunflower seeds, almonds, cinnamon and salt in a large bowl.
- Combine melted butter and brown sugar in a small bowl until well mixed and any lumps removed.
- Stir in maple syrup, honey, egg and vanilla until smooth.
- Add liquid mixture into dry mixture until dry ingredients are moistened.
- Press mixture firmly and evenly into pan.
- Bake for about 20 minutes, or until golden and firm.
- Cool completely before cutting into squares or bars.
- Note: other varieties of dried fruits and nuts may be substituted to suit your likes and dislikes.

Yum, this is delicious! I used raisins instead of dates but otherwise followed it exactly. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is they weren't really bars, more like a chewy granola but that's o.k., I'm having a little late-night get together with some friends and we're all enjoying this immensely. Made for PAC Fall '08.
