Scrumptious and sooo easy! Koshka and I added a mashed banana to the cream mixture before putting it in the pie shell and used another one for garnish on the top, as well as some of the crumbs from the pie crust. No need to be shy when considering the banana-y factor of such a dessert! Thanks for posting the recipe! :)

I tried this recipe and also the recipe by Dejah # 37006. Dejah uses cornstarch and this recipe uses flour. I have to say that the cornstarch recipe tastes much better, and both have the same basic ingredients. This one has more reviews and its not bad, but the recipe by Dejah tasted better to me. thanks :)

It tastes good, it's quick to make, and doesn't need to bake, making it a perfect, cool summer dessert.

The cream filling requires a lot of stirring, but be patient because your efforts will be well worth it. I followed the recipe exactly, with one substitution...I used 2 1/2 cups of whole milk, rather than just 2 cups. Thank you for sharing this wonderful recipe.

I have never tried banana cream pie until tonight but in certainly going to be making this recipe again!! I used a frozen ready made pie crust and i also added a little vanllin sugar to the cream mixture for some extra vanilla flavor. My boyfriend definatley enjoyed it and he only like savory pies. Going back for seconds right now!!

I love homemade cream pies, and this one was worth the time too. The flavor is absolutely delicious! I sliced two of the bananas into the crust, and the third banana I sliced into the cream before pouring it into the shell.

We really liked this pie. I made it as written and used the whipped cream. I usually put meringue on banana cream but will make it this way too. My kids asked me to make again, so it was a big hit.....thank you for posting.....Stephanie

I bake several times a week but cream pies are not one of the more common goodies I make. I absolutely love them but making pie crusts intimidate me and I don't like store bought crusts. But I made 2 crusts - using the recipe off the back of a Crisco can but using a mix of 1/2 shortening & 1/2 butter. The crusts were not too pretty but very flakey & delicious. I then started on my filling and to my surprise - it scorched and burned horribly on the bottom of my saucepan! I was devastated! I had it on medium the entire time and stirred in constantly. I tossed it and tried it again using a different saucepan and did not turn it above 3 1/2 (my stove goes 1-10). I'm not exaggerating when I say it took 1 hour & 50 minutes to reach boiling temp and I was stirring it the ENTIRE time. I was determined NOT to burn it. I used a mixture of half n half & whole milk and I filled each pie crust with 1 1/2 recipes of filling. One recipe of filling didn't seem to be enough. I topped them both with vanilla sweetened heavy whipping cream whipped to stiff peaks. This pie is VERY rich. I would say that using entirely whole milk or even 2 % would be better. And I usually like really rich but this is decadent. In one pie I put banana slices on the bottom and the other I left just as a vanilla cream pie. They set fairly quickly. My cream seems to be a very dark almost butterscotch color. The photo above seems to be lighter? I like this pie but I'm thinking that maybe folding whipped cream into the filling might lighten it a bit. But this recipes is definitely better than using pudding or cool whip. Takes time but you'll love it. Just be sure to watch it on the burner - it scorches so easily.

DH said this pie was the best he'd ever eaten! He is not normally one for desserts but he ate three pieces of this and wanted more!(I had to say no, leave a piece for the kids!) This is really good and I will probably make it often! Easy to make too! Had never made homemade pudding before!

Mmmmm. I've never made a pudding pie without a box of pudding! This was worth the extra effort. Very old-fashioned. Very tasty!

This was a very good pie. I made two of these and shared with co workers. I did make my own whipped topping from scratch. Thank you for sharing your recipe.

This pie is a winner! Everyone loved it. One relative who claims he is a banana cream connoisseur said it was the best he's ever had as he took a 2nd piece. A keeper for sure :)

Boy oh boy am I glad I found this wonderful recipe!! Who knew something so delicious could be so easy! Due to time I've just topped it off with Cool Whip, but I can't wait to use real whipped cream! I've used the graham cracker crust Graham Cracker Crust and loved it. My DH asked if we could try it in a regular crust so I guess I'll give that a go next time. Thanks for the recipe, it's one I will be using A lot!!

My first attempt at making a pie, and this went over really well with my company. There wasn't a piece left for me! I loved the idea of the real bananas instead of banana pudding. The flavor was SO much better. Thanks for posting Granny's recipe! Kim
