  • preheat oven to 350.
  • cut yams into quarters and boil until fork slides out very easily. Drain and peel skins off.
  • With a mixer, combine yams with sugar, 1/2 stick butter, and evaporated milk until there are no lumps.
  • in seperate bowl, combine brown sugar, stick of melted butter, flour and pecan halves.
  • spread yams in a pan and pour pecan mixture over top. swirl through with a knife.
  • bake 45 minutes.
