This is a very old family recipe. These are light - kind of taste like a cross between a potato pancake and a doughnut. Could also be served with powdered sugar instead of the syrup if you wanted. Just plain, old-fashioned German comfort food.
Directions:
1
Beat egg yolks until creamy.
2
Add mashed potatoes and mix well.
3
Sift flour, salt and baking powder.
4
Add flour mixture to potatoes.
5
Beat egg whites until stiff.
6
Fold egg whites into mixture.
7
Drop by teaspoonfuls into hot grease or oil.
8
Serve with syrup while hot.
Ratings & Reviews:
I made as directed with no changes. Excellent! I actually served this as a breakfast side, we all really enjoyed the sweetness to the potatoes. Thanks for sharing!
