This is a great basic recipe. It was a bit too thick so I added milk to it. It was perfect to soak the bread. I used slices of baguette. Thanks Dienia :) Made for PRMR tag game

My kids like French toast and this was no exception. It was super easy and exactly the right amount of egg mixture for 8 slices of whole wheat bread. It was a bit dry though - I usually add milk and let the bread soak it up for a bit. I would also add a bit more vanilla - you can never get enough! Made for Went To The Market tag game. Thanks Dee! :)

Yep this is just like grandma used to make, I even topped with powdered sugar the way grandma used to. I made as written and not only enjoyed every bite but also enjoyed sharing stories of grandma with family that never got to know her. Thanks for the post and memories.

This really brought back memories from my childhood, enjoying my Mother's french toast!!! It was more of an eggy type of french toast that we melted some butter on top and then sprinkled plain sugar over it. So good.!!! Thanks for sharing the recipe. Made for Went to the Market Tag Game.

Yum! I added a little bit of milk after reading the other reviews and it worked great for me. Loved the vanilla flavor. Thanks Dee for another easy, good recipe. Made for Went to the Market Tag.

I'll have to base my rating on DS and friends review. He was here for spring break and I made this for breakfast for them. I did add milk to the mix. They seemed to love the vanilla and nutmeg. I turned around to grab my serving to photograph it, and realized that they had already been eaten. LOL. I've forgotten how much boys eat!

This is delicious old-fashioned French toast! I made just as directed (no milk) and really enjoyed the rich eggy coating on the bread. Topped with maple syrup and enjoyed a great breakfast - thanks for sharing the recipe!
