Grandma's Big Boy Strawberry Pie

In searching the recipes already posted, I see they are very similar. However, this uses less filling with the strawberries- which really allows the freshness to shine.


  1. Cook water, cornstarch, and sugar until thick. Add jello. Cool slightly.
  2. Slice berries into shell. Pour jello mixture over berries. Chill.
  3. Serve with whipped cream, as desired.

My DH adores strawberry pie and this one was a hit with him! It was nice to have more fresh strawberry flavor then jellied filling. I made two pies so used the whole box of jello and doubled the other ingredients. Used frozen Pillsbury pie shells that I thawed and baked before filling. Will add this recipe to my favorites. Made and reviewed for My3Chefs - June 2012.
