I gave this recipe 3 stars. I made this recipe for My 3 Chefs 2009. First I want to say these beans smell wonderful while cooking. This got mixed reviews in my house. My 8 yr old niece didn't like these beans at all. I thought they needed more brown sugar. My future hubby thought they were really good. This amounts are a bit confusing here. Since there was no exact amounts on the beans I used 30oz of kidney beans, a 28oz can of pork and beans. I was really worried about the chunks of bacon so I cut more of it to 1/2-inch thick. As for the tomato sauce I used a 28oz can of tomato sauce. The amount of onion really worried me but it wasn't a problem. When I put my beans in my larger size casserole dish and some in my smalliest size the smalliest size got done in 35 minutes. My largest size took another hour. Overall these weren't bad but I think next time I'll add more brown sugar for sure. Thanks for posting. Christine (internetnut)
