Grandma's Baked Beans

"Grandma Smith makes the best baked beans ever. She is not good about sharing her recipes, however. She gave me these ingredients but no proportions. So here is my best guess."

ingredients

• 1587.57 g pork and beans (van camp's)
• 118.29 ml brown sugar
• 78.78 ml ketchup
• 226.79 g bacon

directions

1. Mix the beans, brown sugar and ketchup in a baking dish.
2. Pull the bacon apart and place on top of the beans.
3. Bake at 350 degrees until bacon is done and beans are bubbly. About 1 hour.

These were excellent!! Very similar to the way my mom makes them. I cut the recipe down by 4 since it was just DH and myself and it was the perfect amount. Will make again!! Made for Spring 2009 PAC.

Made these for a potluck (not something I'd normally make for myself, 'cause of pork & bacon included)! Still, knowing my neighbors, I knew they'd enjoy it, & the bean dish really was A BIG SUCCESS! [Tagged, made & reviewed for one of my adoptees in the current Pick-A-Chef]
