      Made these last night, as one of two desserts for a dinner party. They require a little time, but are an interesting twist on the more traditional apple pie, and were very well-received. DD1 made custard to go with them, and on a chilly autumn evening (for us in Africa), just right! Thanks for this great recipe, made for PAC Spring 2008

      A wonderful comfort food dessert. Can't go wrong with this one. Worth the extra time. Thanks for submitting because I am sure others out there will agree with the ratings.

      I made this today, and I think we may be fighting over who gets the last one! I did add about 1/2 tablespoon of red hot candies to the syrup but that is just personal preference. This is the new favorite at our house!
