ingredients
- 2 cups Quaker Oats
- 12 ounces chocolate chips
- 1 cup pecans, chopped
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 3⁄4 cup brown sugar
- 3⁄4 cup white sugar
- 1 1⁄2 cups flour, sifted
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 eggs
- 1 tablespoon hot water
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
directions
- Sift flour and salt.
- Cream butter and add sugars.
- Add eggs one at a time.
- Dissolve baking soda in water.
- Add to creamed mixture.
- Add oatmeal, flour, nuts, chocolate chips and vanilla.
- Chill at least one hour.
- Drop from teaspoon onto slightly greased cookie sheet.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 10 - 15 minutes.

Just so you know up front ~ Although you indicate a total time for prep & cooking of 3 1/4 hours, my total time for everything was just under 2 hours! That said, these VERY TASTY COOKIES were a pleasure to make! We thoroughly enjoyed the combo of oats & chips & nuts ~ OUTSTANDING. & forget the time, 'cause these are very easy to make!
