Great idea to use jicama! I would have never thought to sub that for water chestnuts, but it was fantastic. I left out the celery and cabbage, cause hubby doesn't care for them, and added more jicama and carrots to make up. Used ground beef, but will try with the turkey next time. Great Super Bowl food for us low carbers.

This is a new family favorite. Made just as written except I left out the green beans and used a whole head of cabbage. Delicious. Almost like an egg roll (probably due to all my cabbage) and would be a great filling for all types of stuff. I undercooked my celery and jicama (LOVED the jicama in this, btw) because we like a bit of crunch. The sauce was a little plain. I might play around with it a little, but it might be perfect just as it is since it doesn't compete with the flavors of the filling. Also, we found it made a LOT. The three of us ate 2 wraps each tonight and there is over half of the filling left. (Lucky us!)I'd originally planned on serving with rice, but was too tired to fix it. This works as a meal in itself...but would be a great appetizer as well if you are good at the wrapping part...I'm not! We will make this again and again. Thanks for sharing your mom's fabulous recipe, flipchef!
