This is a tried and true Tom & Jerry recipe. The directions were thorough and the "batter" was a perfect consistency. I prefer courvoisier cognac in mine....it was delicious!
I made this at the request of my mother and sister, This recipe came together fairly quickly, the sugar was the only thing that took the most time. It was smooth, velvety and better than the Tom and Jerry of my youth. It is definitely more meringue than "batter" but I bet if we didn't drink it all that day, it would have held up much better. It yielded almost 1 gallon of batter, but we like a lot of batter (and brandy) in ours. :)
