Ingredients Nutrition

Directions

  1. In a medium bowl, stir together flour, sugar, salt and baking powder.
  2. Using a pastry blender or fork, cut in 3/4 cup shortening until pieces are the size of small peas.
  3. In a glass measure, combine one beaten egg, 1 teaspoons vinegar and enough water to make 1/3 cup liquid.
  4. Add liquid to flour mixture.
  5. If necessary, add more water, 1 tsp at a time, until dough clings together.
  6. Divide in half and form each 1/2 into a ball.
  7. Each ball makes 1 crust.

I have tried the recipe that uses basically just flour, shortening and water. This seems just as flaky and tasty and it is so much easier to work with!

This was my first attempt at making pie crust...it turned out beautiful, light, and flaky and tasted great also! I will be using this recipe from now on. (Just a thought...you might want to change "Celsius" in step 2 to cup and "vinegar" in step 3 to vanila.) I used this recipe in recipe#89396.
