I am aware of the fact that this is a butter cake, but I did commit a cardinal sin and did not only reduce the butter, but left it out from the topping ALLTOGETHER and also reduced the sugar by half. The cake was WONDERFULL! All creamy, smooth and sweet. No regrets!

This is a St.Louis favorite!! Originally started at Raznaick's Bakery, the recipe was then sold to Haas Bakeries Inc. and became a Missouri sensation. I have fond childhood memories of this wonderful and quite comforting dessert. It is so wonderful to see people like Paula Deen and Emeril Lagasse sharing their wonderful variations on this timeless recipe.

Hi, This is Paula Deens recipe which I have loved for 5 years now.I always make the Pumpkin Gooey butter cake for Thanksgiving.There is also a chocolate one too.All are exceptionally good.
