The pastry definitely deserves 5 stars. Very easy to work with. I cut the recipe in half and made them with the chocolate filling. Even cutting the filling in half, I had way too much. The filling also had a very 'grainy' texture, not a smooth creamy chocolate. Will try them again using a fruit filling. Thanks for sharing!

Holy wow! Thank you Alton Brown and 2Bleu! I just made these - did the chocolate version, some PB&J, some meat/potatoes/garlic/onion. They are really fantastic. I used skim milk because I had it - and had no problems. The only issue I had was with some spillage out of the chocolate ones. I think leave those a little thicker than the other ones, because the mixture tends to explode out in the pan. Other than that these are really fantastic and versatile. Thanks again!

I made the toaster pastry version and ended up with 4 1/2 pies. Since you said any fruit filling could be used, I filled the pastries with apple pie filling as per DD's request. The pies were quite easy to make. I think the pastry was a bit too much for the amount of filling. I sprinkled some sugar on some of them and that did seem to improve them. I also didn't get the pastry thin enough (my fault), though they fit into the toaster just fine. When I make these again I'll be making the smaller baked or fried version.
