- 1 lb small mushroom, fresh
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1⁄2 cup dry breadcrumbs
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1⁄3 cup butter or 1⁄3 cup margarine
- Dip mushrooms into egg.
- Coat with bread crumbs.
- Cook mushrooms and onion in butter in skillet, turning occasionally, until mushrooms are tender and golden brown. 7 - 8 minutes.
Excellent way to cook mushrooms. I made as written and loved 'em. Thanks for sharing. Made for Spring PAC 2012.
A wonderful recipe for mushroom lovers: so easy and so delicious. My only changes were to add some dried thyme to the breadcrumbs and some minced garlic (if there's a way to sneak in some garlic, I'll always do just that! ;) ) in the last few minutes of cooking the mushrooms. What's not to love about this dish!! I love breaded mushrooms,and this certainly made a change from deep frying them,with the added bonus of a lovely buttery taste.I used homemade crumbs straight out of the freezer,and they adhered beautifully to the mushrooms,with just a few escaping when I turned them in the pan.A triumph!!Made for PRMR.
