2nd year I am using this. It is the best! Can waiting for my vegan (adult) kids to try it. I know they will die!
This is such a flavorful gravy, just great! I wasn't sure how it would turn out browsing the ingredients list, but it was fantastic. The ideal accompaniment for Chickpea Cutlets (I found a single recipe here serves a double batch of cutlets). FYI I spent 0.41 cents at the store for exactly 1/2 cup of nutritional yeast (yes, I brought my measuring cup!) Give this a try if you are considering it, you won't be disappointed! This is a very good gravy! My first attempt at a vegan gravy. Very happy with the results! I used Braggs instead of tamari, and added chopped mushrooms along with the onions after they had softened up a bit. I also did not use any oil. Just simmered the onion in water instead. Yummy!! Thanks so much for sharing. Oh, and I served it over the Chickpea Cutlets as you suggested. :O)
As another reviewer stated, this is rich in flavor and I just love it. I can see where non-vegans would not be able to tell the difference between this and traditional gravy. Only this is better! Thanks, Mom2CuteBoys! Made for PAC Spring '09.
This was pretty good albeit really rich in flavor. This recipe also makes a lot so I have some leftover for Thanksgiving. I did add finely chopped mushrooms and next time I will reduce the oil and Tamari. Thanks for sharing this and I plan on making it again!
